DINNER TO HONOUR GRAND SLAM BACKROOM STAFF

The backroom staff of the Wales 2008 Grand Slam team are coming to a charity dinner in Cwmbran. They are being honoured at the Welsh Charitables RFC vice-presidents dinner where they will each be made vice-presidents and presented with a tie.

It's on Friday 26 September at the Greenmeadow Golf & Country Club.

Receiving their Vice Presidents ties on the night will be Head Coach Warren Gatland, Backs Coach Rob Howley, Forwards Coach Robin McBryde, Kicking Coach Neil Jenkins, Team Manager Alan Phillips, WRU President Dennis Gethin and WRU Chairman David Pickering.  Both Shaun Edwards Defence Coach and Roger Lewis WRU Group Chief Executive are unable to attend due to prior commitments.

Hon Secretary David Power said "You can take nothing away from the Wales Grand Slam Winning Team who have had all the accolades which were well deserved. But we felt it was also worthy to recognise the hard work put in by all the backroom guys who helped to make it all possible and were an integral part of that special side. It is a great coop for the Welsh Charitables to have such an attendance from the WRU which will enhance the evening's proceedings for everyone."

Also being honored on the night is Former Wales Captain, Coach, Scrum Half and former WRU President Clive Rowlands who is being made a Life Vice President for all his help and support of the Welsh Charitables RFC, Former Wales & British Lions Centre Steve Fenwick and John & Richard Hughes of the World Famous Groggs who now have the Welsh Charitablwes RFC are one of their nominated charities.

All the money raised on the night will go to the Welsh Charitables RFC "We Want a Million Appeal" to form a Trust Fund to support their nominated charities namely Ty Hafan the Children's Hospice in Wales, St Anne's Hospice, St David's Foundation Hospice Care, The Welsh Rugby Charitable Trust (A trust for players at all levels who get injured whilst playing the game) and WREX The Wales former Players Association.
