New vice-presidents

Five leading characters from the world of rugby are being presented with vice-presidents ties of the Welsh Charitables RFC. Former Wales & British Lion stars Tom David and Steve Fenwick, Wales and Newport star Alun Thomas, one of the famous 1963 team that beat the All Blacks, and John and Richard Hughes who run the world famous Grogg shop, will be at the charity dinner next week to receive their ties.

JPR Williams will present them with their ties. Other stars on the top table will include David Watkins, Bobby Windsor, Dai Morris, Dai Parker, Chico Hopkins, Adrian Hadley, Graham Jones and Paul Turner.

It's on Friday 16 November at the Commodore Hotel in Cwmbran. Tickets are £30, or £300 for a table of ten and includes a four course dinner. Call 07973 705062 to reserve a place.

The speakers are Radio pundit pair David Giles, the former Wales football international, and David Bishop, the former union and league player, whose antics on and off the field while at Pontypool RFC made him a firm favourite with rugby fans.

David Power, Secretary of the Welsh Charitables RFC, said: 'The annual vice-presidents dinner is a chance to welcome new members to the Welsh Charitables by presenting them with their ties. It's great that we've got some new well known names who will be presented with their ties and be able to spread the word of the good work of the Welsh Charitables RFC'.

All of the money raised on the night will go to into the 'We Want a Million' trust fund which has been set up for the Welsh Charitables nominated charities, St Anne's Hospice, St David's Foundation Hospice Care, Ty Hafan The Children's Hospice in Wales, The Welsh Rugby Charitable Trust and WREX The Welsh Rugby Former International Players Association.
