Football First for Rugby Dinner

Rugby fans are for an unusual double treat at the next Welsh Charitables RFC charity dinner.  Instead of the usual guest lone speaker this time two leading speakers from the world of sport will entertain guests. In another first for the Welsh Charitables RFC, one of the speakers is an ex-footballer.

The speakers are Radio pundit pair David Giles, the former Wales football international, and David Bishop, the former union and league player, whose antics on and off the field while at Pontypool RFC made him a firm favourite with rugby fans.

It's on Friday 16 November at the Commodore Hotel in Cwmbran. Tickets are £30, or £300 for a table of ten and includes a four course dinner. Call 07973 705062 to reserve a place.

David Power, Secretary of the Welsh Charitables RFC, said: "To describe David Bishop as a 'character' is an understatement. Anyone who has been involved in Welsh rugby will have heard a tale of 'Bish' that may seem unbelievable but is more than likely to be true. Since hanging up his boots he has become a familiar voice on the radio with the excellent David Giles. They are going to give guests a lot of laughs while helping us raise money for our appeal. It is unusual for us to have a footballer as a guest speaker but the sporting knowledge of this pair will give a fun twist to the night."

All of the money raised on the night will go to into the "We Want a Million" trust fund which has been set up for the Welsh Charitables nominated charities, St Anne's Hospice, St David's Foundation Hospice Care, Ty Hafan The Children's Hospice in Wales, The Welsh Rugby Charitable Trust and WREX The Welsh Rugby Former International Players Association.
