Sir Tasker Watkins and Steve Jones
The Welsh Charitables RFC have paid tribute to two of its biggest supporters who have sadly died. Sir Tasker Watkins was a Life Vice President and Steve "Junna" Jones was a regular supporter at the charity dinners.
David Power, secretary of the Welsh Charitables RFC, said: "This has been a sad time for us. These two gentlemen were big supporters of our work. We presented Sir Tasker with his life vice-president tie a couple of years ago in Cardiff. Dai Watkins, our chairman, and Dennis Wilmott, our president, helped organise that special day. Sir Tasker supported the Welsh Rugby Charitable Trust so after the presentation we added them to the charities that we support.
"Steve was a great character who enjoyed giving his support to our dinners. If you were sat at Steve's table you were guaranteed a night of laughs and friendly banter. Steve would help out with supplying players for our charity matches. He was due to play an integeral part in the Welsh Charitables RFC planned renunion dinner of the 1983 cup winning Pontypool team next year."
"I would like to pay tribute to them both and send our deepest condolences to their families. The rugby world will be a sadder place without them."
